How it works
Call us on 01364 652222 to book a time that suits you — online booking will be available in the future. Try to book 4–6 weeks before you travel — some vaccines need multiple doses or time to build protection — but last-minute travellers should still get in touch, as protection is often still worthwhile.
Our pharmacist reviews your destination, activities, trip length and medical history against the latest UK travel health guidance, then recommends exactly which vaccines, antimalarials or medicines you need — nothing more, nothing less.
Most vaccines can be given during the same visit in our private consultation room. You'll leave with a record of your vaccinations, clear aftercare advice, and any follow-up doses booked in before you go.

Havrix, Vaqta · Adult
A viral infection of the liver usually picked up through contaminated food or water. A risk in much of Africa, Asia, Central and South America — one dose before travel gives protection for the trip, with a booster extending it for many years.
Engerix B, HBvaxPRO · Adult
A virus spread through blood and bodily fluids that can cause serious, long-term liver disease. Recommended for longer stays, healthcare or aid work, and travel to regions where it is common. Given as a course of doses.
Revaxis (DTP)
A single booster covering three diseases at once. Most people had the primary course as a child — a booster is recommended if your last dose was more than ten years ago and you're travelling somewhere these diseases still circulate.
Typhim Vi
A bacterial infection spread through contaminated food and water, common in South Asia, Africa and parts of South America. One injection protects for around three years.
Vivotif · 3 capsules
A needle-free alternative to the typhoid injection, taken as three capsules on alternate days. Ideal if you prefer to avoid injections — just allow enough time to finish the course before departure.
Dukoral · oral
A drinkable vaccine against a severe diarrhoeal infection found where sanitation is poor. Usually recommended for aid workers, adventurous travellers and visits to areas with active outbreaks.
Rabipur, Verorab
Almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but fully preventable with vaccination. Recommended for trips involving animals, remote areas far from medical care, or longer stays in higher-risk countries. Given as a course before travel.
TicoVac
A viral infection of the brain spread by tick bites in forested parts of central, northern and eastern Europe and parts of Asia. Worth considering for hiking, camping or countryside stays in affected regions during spring and summer.
Ixiaro
A rare but serious mosquito-borne infection found in rural parts of Asia, particularly around rice paddies during the wet season. Recommended for longer or rural trips to affected areas. Given as a two-dose course.
Qdenga
A mosquito-borne virus causing high fever and severe joint pain, widespread across tropical and subtropical regions. Ask our pharmacist whether vaccination is right for you — suitability depends on your travel and medical history.
Stamaril · approved centres only
A serious mosquito-borne infection in parts of Africa and South America — some countries require an official vaccination certificate for entry. The Yellow Fever vaccine is currently not available at Ashburton Pharmacy; ask us during your consultation and we'll point you to the nearest approved centre.

Malarone · Doxycycline · Lariam
Malaria is a life-threatening mosquito-borne illness across much of Africa, Asia and South America. During your consultation we'll recommend the right antimalarial for your destination, health and budget — some courses need to start before you travel, so book early. Pricing varies with supply.
Acetazolamide (Diamox)
Heading above roughly 2,500m — trekking in Nepal, Kilimanjaro, the Andes? Acetazolamide can help your body acclimatise and reduce the risk of altitude sickness, alongside sensible ascent planning we'll talk you through.
Norethisterone
If your period is due at an inconvenient time — a honeymoon, a trek, a beach holiday — norethisterone can safely delay it. A short consultation checks it's suitable for you.
Melatonin
Crossing multiple time zones can leave you exhausted for days. Melatonin helps reset your body clock so you can make the most of your trip from day one.
Azithromycin
A standby antibiotic to carry with you for treating severe traveller's diarrhoea when you're far from medical help — plus practical advice on food and water precautions to avoid needing it.
